A great comment from one of the Supervisors involved in the meeting of Synthetic Biology when one of the computer masters (actually a very intelligent guy) kept going on and on about the potentialities of his developing tool (software):
"Forget Tools because tools become obsolete, instead focus on Principles because Principles are maintained. In a few months or years someone will come up with a much better Tool than yours and yours will be binned just because in reality Tools are ephemeral but Principles are eternal".
It was a lesson for life for me and the guy who had to engulf the speech straight to his ego. However, I couldn't stop making a link between the tool-software and the Tool described below.
Definition of Tool in the Urban Dictionary:
Tool | 7235 up, 2714 down | |
A person, typically male, who says or does things that cause you to give them a 'what-are-you-even-doing-here' look. The 'what-are-you-even-doing-here' look is classified by a glare in the tool's direction and is usually accompanied by muttering of how big of a tool they are. The tool is usually someone who is unwelcome but no one has the balls to tell them to get lost. The tool is always making comments that are out-of-place, out-of-line or just plain stupid. The tool is always trying too hard to fit in, and because of this, never will. However, the tool is useful because you can use them for things"
