Did you know that...

A natural gene has a rate of utilisation of an aminoacid codon of around 0.5%, tops.

...There is a thing called Minimal Genome Concept, i.e., the minimal number and type of genes necessary to be present in the bacterial genome in order to maintain them alive.

I would like to understand the second statement a lot better, it is actually something I heard on a meeting but couldn't figure out much.
